HALL OF FAME

The Canterbury Park Hall of Fame was established to give special recognition to the individuals and horses who have helped shape and define racing in Minnesota since its inception in 1985. Since that time, a multitude of special horses, jockeys, trainers, breeders, owners and outstanding contributors have been enshrined in the Canterbury Park Hall of Fame, including our 2008 inductees Kenny Schoepf and, the thoroughbred, Turbo Launch.

Each year, a panel of representatives from various horsemen organizations and media outlets reviews the potential candidates for inclusion in the next Canterbury Park Hall of Fame Class.

Kenny Schoepf - Outstanding Contributor

Turbo Launch was a star with unlimited potential and was the winner of the 1987 Canterbury Debutante against top-flight competition including the Grade I winner Lost Kitty. Injuries in that race cut short Turbo Launch's career, but she had a stellar career as a broodmare and was grand-dam to Point Given, 2001 Horse of the Year.

Kenny was the man who kept the backside running smoothly since opening day in 1985. He was the track's only identifier until his death in late 2006. A daily figure in the paddock, he also had the reputation as a man who could fix anything in the stable area and usually did. Schoepf grew up in the industry as a quarter horse rider.
