It’s hard to believe, but the 2018 live racing season is right around the corner!
With Derby Day fast approaching, now is the time to reserve your seat for opening weekend or any race day. Table and seating reservations for this upcoming season are now available. You can buy early and save.
Canterbury Park has several options when it comes watching live horse racing. Lovely outdoor cabanas for groups. Reserved tables with cocktail service or personal TVs. Classic terrace tables for six. No matter how you like to enjoy live racing, we have the right fit for you.
“We want people to feel comfortable when they come to Canterbury Park to enjoy live racing,” said Tierney Franklin, guest services manager at Canterbury Park. “You know it’s going to be an exciting day, so we work to make sure people can tailor their experiences to their own tastes.”
Kentucky Derby
Coming May 5, the day after our live racing season begins, is the Kentucky Derby. It’s always popular at Canterbury Park, which means you should reserve your favorite place to watch the races today.
We have fantastic packages available, including…
Champions Package: A $700 table for four in the Triple Crown Suite that includes an open bar, ongoing appetizers, buffet, dessert and more.
Triple Crown Package: A $320 table for four in the Triple Crown Restaurant, plus two complimentary drinks per person, buffet and more.
Terrace tables for six are available for $75, and simulcast tables (no view of track) cost $40 or 900 MVP points.
Derby attire is admired but not required!
Clubhouse Level – Level 3
Clubhouse level seating is very popular with guests at Canterbury Park.
With elevated views of the track, a private TV, comfortable seating and table service, our third level is a great spot for a small gathering on race days. Tables for up to six people are available.
“Everybody likes the Clubhouse level,” Franklin said. “It’s your table for the day and you can come and go as you please.”
There are two options for Clubhouse tables: full menu service or simply cocktail service. Plus, guests have the option to purchase our daily buffet, served just steps from your view of the track.
“We like to give people options,” Franklin said. “Depending on what they’re looking for, we can always find the right space for them.”
Mezzanine Level – Level 2
The Mezzanine level at Canterbury Park offers several options, as well.
For a classic feel at the track, check out our box seats. Located on the second floor, these railed-off sections feature individual chairs with space for up to six people. With a vintage vibe and great views of the action, Mezzanine box seats are a fantastic way to take in live racing at a minimal cost.
“Our Clubhouse will often fill up on big racing days,” Franklin said. “So the Mezz is a great alterative for a more private space. Plus, you still get a great view and easy access to food and beverage.”
Meanwhile, the second level also offers individual table seating. These are perfect for the serious handicapper who needs some space for programs, racing forms and to map out his or her wagering plans for the day.
Mezzanine table seats overlook the finish line are located near the Horseshoe bar.
“We have a lot of horse players that want to focus on their betting,” Franklin said. “The Mezzanine tables let them spread out a bit and concentrate on the races.”
General Admission Seating Options
Of course, we also have plenty of free seating available with the purchase of your general admission ticket, including great outdoor spaces where you can sit in the sun and take in the races.
But the second floor also has two indoor sections on either side of the Mezzanine area where you can sit and get some shade or check out the action from a different angle.
Large Group Options
If you’re wondering what to do for your next corporate outing, bachelor party or family reunion, Canterbury Park also has plenty of space available for larger groups.
Silks
Silks, our largest party space, offers both indoor and outdoor seating. With track-level viewing, Silks can host one large group or be divided for multiple gatherings.
Balcony Suites
A perfect blend of a casual and sophisticated, our Balcony Suites are located on the third level and give guests the chance to spread out and watch racing live or on monitors. With seating for up to 40 people, our Balcony Suites are a great space for people to host clients and guests.
Finish Line Cabanas
With accommodations for up to 20 people, our Finish Line Cabanas feature comfort and style, with a lovely shaded deck space and food and beverage service. Overlooking the finish line on a raised platform, our cabanas can also be rented together for larger groups.
Longshots
Located on the north end of the Mezzanine level, Longshots is a gorgeous open-air space with a roof, allowing you to take in the atmosphere of the track without worrying about weather. Longshots is a favorite for people booking parties.
Wild Horse Saloon
Get an authentic Western flavor in our Wild Horse Saloon, a large outdoor space with Canterbury Park’s longest bar and several picnic tables. The deck, just past the finish line, is a great spot for a barbecue-themed party and features a private buffet area.
Triple Crown Club
Add a touch of class at our Triple Crown Restaurant and Suite. Perfect for galas, corporate functions or high-end racing events, the Triple Crown Club has three distinct spaces that can be booked individually or combined for a grand affair. It has private rooms and betting tellers, so you can relax and enjoy the space during live racing.
