Anicieto Rodriguez and Jose Rito Arellono: MN HBPA Groom of the Week presented by Bravis Craft Mexican Kitchen and Luro Boots

The Minnesota HBPA started the tradition several years ago of honoring weekly a groom that exemplifies the trade. Grooms are the backbone of racing, caring for the equine athletes. Much of their work goes unseen and largely unappreciated by the general public. Grooms are hands-on daily with the horses and a good groom makes a huge difference for a successful trainer.

There was a dead heat this week for the Mike Biehler barn but it wasn’t with horses, it was grooms.

A Groom of the Week Dead Heat!

First, there is Jose Rito Arellono. Mike says that Rito has a lot of experience and is one of the best grooms he’s ever had. He oversees the care of seven horses and is key to the success of the Biehler barn.

Then there is Anicieto Rodriguez. Mike says that “Cheto” takes great pride in his work and really goes the extra mile to take the best care of his horses, horses that range from an unraced 2-year-old to seasoned veterans.

These grooms will be recognized Thursday following race one in a winner’s circle presentation.

Congratulations to Rito Arellono and Anicieto Rodriguez , the Minnesota HBPA Grooms of the Week.

A groom is recognized each Thursday during the meet and will receive gifts from the Minnesota HBPA, and sponsors Bravis Craft Mexican Kitchen and Luro Boots.
