Canterbury Park’s thoroughbred stakes schedule this year features 34 races totaling $1.71 million in purses, including six Claiming Crown races and seven on Minnesota Festival of Champions Day. The 62-day meet begins Friday night, May 14 and closing day, Festival Day, will be Sunday, August 29. The Minnesota Festival of Champions, now in its 17th year, will offer purses of $345,000 for horses bred in the state.
The 12th Claiming Crown, an event which attracts top jockeys and claiming horses from throughout the country, will be Saturday, July 24. Also that day will be the 18th renewal of the $100,000 Lady Canterbury Breeders’ Cup Stakes.
Stall applications will be available February 22, the same day the first condition book will be online at www.canterburypark.com .
