The day we have all been waiting for is finally here. The world will be tuned into Hallandale Beach, Florida for a race fit for only the best, the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park. A record $12 million purse featuring two of the two best horses in racing right now regardless of distance or surface, there is no arguing California Chrome and Arrogate are two of the best. It will be awfully difficult to outdo the epic finish from the Breeders’ Cup Classic in November, but add in a 12 million dollar purse and some post position drama, and we may have a rivalry worth every penny of the 12 million dollar purse. Despite a record purse and an epic rematch, the undercard simply can’t be overlooked. In fabulous fashion that only the Stronach Group can do, the undercard is absolutely fantastic and brings a Derby Day like card to the table. With a series of Stakes races sprinkled in by some of the best most highly sought after horses making their debuts in some very competitive Maiden Special Weight races it is surely a day to remember. The only thing that makes it more memorable than witnessing a record breaking first annual Pegasus World Cup, would be to make some money and leave with pockets full of cash.
After finishing with five 2nd place finishes last week, and nine winners in the top three from 12 races I am hoping my luck can surely change around this week. Certainly been knocking on the door, and today seems like a great day to breakout and have another 6 win day. If you plan on playing multi race wagers, be sure to identify the races where you think the favorites look strong, and spread as much as possible when they look vulnerable. As always some spots I opt to spread are turf races and especially turf sprints where it is all about the trip. Also more often than not the Maiden races can deliver some huge scores as we found two weeks ago at 35-1. All it takes is one longshot and you could be cashing a pick 5 worth $72,000 as a few lucky players did a few weeks ago.
