The 4-year-old mare bred in Oklahoma is trained by Durk Peery and was ridden by Fernando Fonseca-Soto. She is owned by MOK 4 Racing. Final time for the 400 yards was 19.672 seconds. Jess Special Folly V has now won four of 12 career starts and $88,743 in purses. She paid $5.40 to win.
Trainer Tyler Stein won the $69,531 MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity with Relentlessly Fast at odds of 23 to 1. The 2-year-old gelding beat Relentless Corona by a head. Third was Relentless Minnie and fourth Relentless Bay. The second, third and fourth place finishers are all trained by Jason Olmstead.
Tom Maher owns the winner who paid $49.20. Maher also owns and bred Relentless Bay and co-owns Relentless Corona, who he bred with his brother Bill Maher, with Paul Luedemann. Summer Run Inc owns Relentless Minnie who Maher also bred. Final time for the 350 yards was 17.958 seconds.
“He’s one that kind of likes to mess up a little bit in the gate so as long as he got a clean trip I knew we were going to be tough in there,” Stein said. “As soon as he broke I knew we had a shot.”
