Trainer Jason Olmstead won all five quarter horse trials, three for the Northlands Futurity and two for the Canterbury Park Quarter Horse Derby. Jockey Ramiro Garcia won four of the races and Armando Alvidrez won one.
Olmstead qualified five of the 10 finalists to the Aug. 15 $80,400 Northlands Futurity including the three fastest. Two Minnesota-bred 2-year-olds qualified: L Conejo trained by Haley Hobbs and Da Lie Lah trained by Olmstead.
The $50,075 Canterbury Park Quarter Horse Derby will also be run Aug. 15. Below are the 10 qualifiers of which six are trained by Olmstead.
